Karlijn Kuijpers (1984) is universitair docent criminologie aan de Universiteit Leiden. Ze doceert de vakken Aard, omvang en schade van criminaliteit (3e jaar bachelor) en Methoden en technieken van criminologisch onderzoek II (2e jaar bachelor). Haar belangrijkste onderzoeksinteresses zijn risicotaxatie, partnergeweld, (herhaald) slachtofferschap en behoeften van slachtoffers van delicten.
Karlijn Kuijpers studeerde psychologie aan de Universiteit van Tilburg, waar zij in 2006 haar masterdiploma behaalde. Vanaf 2006 werkte zij als psycholoog in het Amphia ziekenhuis te Breda en als onderzoeker bij het International Victimology Institute Tilburg (Intervict, Universiteit van Tilburg). In opdracht van en in samenwerking met het Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek- en Documentatiecentrum (WODC, Ministerie van Justitie) voerde zij een onderzoek uit naar behoeften van slachtoffers van delicten. In 2007 startte ze bij Intervict (Universiteit van Tilburg) met haar promotieonderzoek naar risico op herhaald slachtofferschap van partnergeweld. De verdediging van haar proefschrift getiteld ‘Risky Relationships. Victims’ risk of revictimization of intimate partner violence’ heeft in december 2011 plaatsgevonden.
